A/N: I had one idea of how this was going to go, but in the end, it came as its own monster.

Jared pushed a very young Jensen down and kicked the sand until the castle was only a lump under his feet. “you’re never gonna have a castle as good as mine.” He said and ran away leaving Jensen looking with sad teary eyes to the wet sand.
Maybe Jared was right, maybe he will never have nice things like Jared. And maybe that’s why his mom liked Jared more like him.
Jensen wanted to just punch Jared in the face, but the one time he did that everyone got mad. Mom said that Mr. Padalecki might fire her and they’ll have to leave. “Where you think we’ll go? To my parents’? So you can be as unhappy as I was?” He was forced to say he was sorry and Jared mocked him after that calling him nasty names. He could deal with the bugger calling him “help” as they called the ladies in that movie about the poo pie, but not with his mom tucking Jared in bed before him.
Jensen told his mom once he hated his dad for leaving. He was six and had no idea.
Mom cried that night. “No sweetie, you can’t hate people because they leave… I bet your daddy will love to be here with us, but you cannot decide whenyou die, only God knows that.”
“But he went to heaven and I have to be here with Jared… and he’s mean!” he sniffled a bit. “he should’ve taken us both with him.”
“awww… ” His mom hugged him tight. “sweetie no…” Jensen slept with his mom hugging him.
While having breakfast she told him that maybe Jared didn’t know him. “we’ve been here for just few weeks, right? maybe he still doesn’t know you; once you know each other you’re gonna be the best of friends!!”
Jensen turned giant round green eyes to her, twinkling with hope. “you think? He has awesome toys!”
“I’m sure…” she said and helped him with his cereal, he had to hurry up because then his mom had to go and bath Jared and then feed him breakfast too, the big baby couldn’t eat himself like Jensen could, he was a whiny stinky baby and mom loved nobody more than she loved Jensen.
But things never got better, at first Jensen tried to be nice; after all Jared didn’t have a mom and his dad was always busy with his job and his girlfriends and traveling all over leaving only Jensen his mom and Jared behind. He had an older brother thou, and Jeff was awesome! He was so much older he could drive and when he had to run errands he let Jensen tag along.
If you ask Jeff it was a practical reason, Jared was a very needy kid and Jensen needed some attention too. And Jensen didn’t need a buster seat anymore; even if he had to drive in the back. Jensen loved going with Jeff because Jeff always bought him candy or ice cream and then they kept the secret and never told mom about that. But Jared hated it, every time Jensen got in Jeff’s car Jared used to wait for him in the kitchen and scratch his face or pinch him really hard.
Mom used to laugh at those. “he’s just jealous sweetie nothing to worry about.” She said and hugged Jensen. Still she tuck Jared at night before him.
***
The teasing and hitting didn’t die down with school, since they lived at the same house they went to the same school, it was a expensive private school that Jared’s dad paid for them both, Jensen was happy at first, the first two years he was the only one there, and then came Jared. He had a bunch of friends from the club and parties and they all started picking on Jensen too. Throwing food at him, stealing his crayons, taking all his favorite drawings and books, one time after Jensen got an iron Man Backpack for his birthday that had lights and music, Jared tossed it into the fountain. Jensen cried that day.
Another time Jared showered him in pink glitter and called him a girl, he tried the wash the stupid stuff but it didn’t come off.
His friends only rolled their eyes. “You’re older Jay, just hit him back and threaten him not to tell your mom.” Why did he even listen to those dumbs; mom got angry and he was left without TV for two weeks.
It was the summer between fifth and sixth grade that Jensen finally was free of Jared, his mom took him to Texas to see his grandparents and Jared and his dad and brother went to New York to see where Jeff was going to live while in college.
Jensen’s grandparents were nice with him, they had a nice house like Jared’s and horses yet it was not a farm. “Mom are Nana and grandpa rich?” she chuckled at him but didn’t say if yes or no. he woke up late, he help feed the horses, he went out to play with the dog or to swim at the pond nearby. He met Christian who was his new best friend, he taught him to build a kite and they spent countless nights camping in the backyard.
Jensen forgot absolutely everything about Jared for two and a half amazing months.
Then one night he woke up with the shouting from the kitchen, without making any sound he walked to the stairs and saw light from the door ajar, his mom was inside crying. “I’m not asking you to do anything for me or Jensen; I can take care of my son!!”
Nana was shouting louder than anyone. “sure!! The same way you took care of yourself getting pregnant and marrying that nobody who had the good taste to die leaving you on the streets?”
“Mother!!”
“Diana!!” grandpa said.
“We’re leaving… I have a job, and Jensen is going to a good school! I don’t need this.” Jensen heard his mom walking out of the kitchen and heard grandpa calling her name on the backyard, nana was crying loudly.
“All I want is my baby to come home!” she said when grandpa came back; jenne went back to bed and when his mom touched him a while later she was cold, Jensen just hugged her. “it’s okay mom, I’m here now, I’ts okay… we’ll be okay.”
And then… then mom packed everything and they went back home. August became the most awful month ever; once they arrived Jared appeared carrying his new ball, and hit Jensen in the face.
The blood stained the shirt Christian gave him and mom said Jared was just a kid and was not his intention, but Jensen knew Jared wanted to hurt him.
“he’s younger than you baby…” Mom said holding him. “he just wanted to show you his new toy.”
“No mom… he’s mean!! And you like him more than you like me!!” Jensen said trying to get up from his mom’s lap.
“No! stop there young man.” Mom said holding his arm. “why you think I like him more?” Jensen felt stupid, and more feeling his eyes filled with tears after three perfect months he was back where it all began.
“You are always with him, and always think about him, and… you help him with his homework first, and with…” his mom hugged him. “you even tuck him in first…”
Mom held him tight and Jensen felt her tears. “that’s because the sooner I’m done with him, more time I’ll have for you sweetie…” she said. “and because if he’s not happy… we couldn’t live here anymore.”
Jensen’s eyes opened at that, so that was the reason, they had nowhere to go, no house, and no money; nothing, if stupid bug faced Jared wasn’t happy. “okay” he said hugging his mom. “I’ll try to be good…”
But trying to be good only meant tolerating the bullying without fighting back; except in holydays when Jeff was there and stopped Jared.
“Leave him alone you asshole!” he shouted when Jared had thrown a bucket of water over Jensen who was playing his guitar. Jared cackled and flipped Jeff before running out.
Jeff was 20 and Jensen was only 14; and had a huge crush on him. “You okay Jen?”
Jensen was crying, the guitar had been a present from grandpa for his 12th birthday, and Christian taught him how to play during the summer. “I’m fine…” he said but the guitar was ruined.
His mom got mad that day and when Jared was having dinner she didn’t stay with him. Jensen was having dinner in the kitchen with the cook and she gave him a special serving of her blackberry and almonds filled chocolate cake. He was still feeling miserable; he didn’t even have idea where his guitar was anymore.
“Baby...” mom caressed his hair and kissed him sitting next to him where the cook was setting her plate. “Thank you Ruthie.” She said with a smile taking her fork and waited until Ruth was sitting too. “So…” she said. “How is school?”
Jensen blushed, he just had a ten on math and his project for science was going to the regional science fair. “Fine…”
“Nothing new?” she said with the first bite of her food when the huge explosion like sound from the dining room where Jared was eating alone. Jensen’s mom ran out of the kitchen followed by the guard who usually stood by the kitchen door.
They found Jared sitting on his chair, crying, one of the walls was painted black and the smell of powder. “Jensen did it!!” he shouted running to hug Jensen’s mom.
The guards found crackers, fireworks Jensen and Christian had bought in Texas and grandpa had confiscated. But Jensen had been in the kitchen for hours, Ruth swore she had him around the entire afternoon. “he helped me with the cake it took us four hours!!”
The guards were not happy; the rule of the house said no explosives of any kind in the premises. “Jensen, darling? Do you have something to say?” asked his mom in a stern voice in front of Jared and his father and brother.
Jensen felt miserable, he didn’t do it. “Christian gave me those before we came back… but I swear it wasn’t me, I was with Ruthie the whole afternoon!!” Jensen’s mom covered her face and let out a tired sigh.
“I believe him.” Jeff said. “Besides when I got home Jared wasn’t in the dining room, I passed by and left my phone on the table; the dish was there but he wasn’t.”
His father let out a groan. “Stop defending the help over your brother.”
“Half brother.” Jeff grumbled. “And the help has been more a parent to me and him than you or his whore of a mother”
“Jeffrey!” his father let out too loud, startling both Jared and Jensen.
“It’s about time you set limits to that snotty little prick!” Jeff shouted. “But you’ll have to care to do that.” He turned to Jensen and his mom. “It was me, okay? I just wanted to scare Jared a bit because he’s an asshole to Jensen all the time.”
His father let out a curse and Jensen’s mom gasped. “sorry, Samantha… Jensen, I need to talk to my sons.”
Jensen’s mom held his hand and marched towards the kitchen, on their way they heard Jared shouting. “That’s not true; it wasn’t Jeff I know it!!”
And Jeff’s voice covering his father’s “and how is that? Huh? Because you did it!”
***
Jensen’s mom started looking for an apartment that weekend, just before school started but Jared’s dad convinced her to stay.
“I need to ask you a favor.” His mom said when he was going to bed the last day before school and Jensen turned to see her face. “Stay away from Jared for a while, okay? His dad grounded him and…” Jensen closed his eyes, he knew what it meant.
It meant that the second he stepped out of the bus Jared made his life living hell; he plastered the school with pictures of Jensen with the caption. “The Maid’s kid” when someone confronted him Jensen looked at the kind in the face and said yes. “Yes I am, I can come to this school as long as my mom can put up with Jared’s jerkiness.” The other kid laughed. “Who knows how long it’ll be maybe one more day, he’s a real ass.”
The joke backfired on Jared; Jensen was cornered after PE that day, Jared had two guys from the football team he met in one of his dad’s clubs beating him.
He got home with a bruised cheekbone and a split lip. Jeff was still there and got furious. “It was Jared, right?” Jensen said no, his mom was right behind Jeff and she looked tired. “I fell on PE.” He said and plastering a smile on his face. “Hi mom…”
That was not the last of it, once Jeff was gone Jensen was cornered by other kids too, after a year and a half of it he heard Jared was actually paying other kids to hurt him. his science project was found broken, someone peed on his gym locker; his clothes went missing after swim practice, he was left last to shower after PE and someone spread shards of glass on the floor; Jensen cut his foot and needed stitches.
When he was going down the stairs someone pushed him and he fell hurting his chin. Someone spat on him from a balcony, he was booed so loud the teacher had him out of the debate team.
One day he had someone dripping red ink on his pants. “Look Jensen had his period!!” they said and even girls laughed. It was far from regular teasing, Jensen tried at first to not let it notice but it took a toll on him.
“Mom… can I go to a different school?” he said one day when he beat one of Jared’s friends with the first place on an essays contest.
“Sweetie.” His mom looked tired and done with it. “We already went through this at the beginning of the year.”
Jensen wanted to cry, he was too old for that thou. At 15 he was at the top of his class and was part of the baseball team, where Jared couldn’t get. Yet his life was miserable; the teasing and embarrassing jokes turned into real abuse there was not one day he didn’t come back home with at least one new bruise or hematoma. And he knew it’ll only get worse.
The next day when he was supposed to read a part of his essay to the school board he never got there, he was found three hours later under a stair case near the chemistry lab, his collarbone broken and his face swollen, his nose was broken too . He never said what happened, but Jared and his friends cornered him and at first he let the guys push him around until Jared said something about his dad. “you’re just a coward like your deadbeat dad; he didn’t even stayed for that hot piece of ass your mom is.” Jensen punched him straight in the mouth, and Jared went nuts, hitting him so many times he lost track of time, then when his friends were asking him to stop came back with a metal stool from the lab and swinged it against him, the pain made Jensen see everything in white.
“Let’s see how good you are in baseball now fucking looser.” He hissed as Jensen tried to scream in pain but he covered his mouth.
His mom tried, she asked over and over but Jensen never said a word. The next day she took Jensen out of that school and changed him to a public school few miles away; Jensen took a different bus and stop; by the time he was back from school his bedroom was packed and he moved out of Jared’s house with his mom.
Ruthie and Rob, the cook and the gardener helped them and visited often, his mom started working on a daycare not a week after; it was not the same kind of money but at least Jensen was safe.
