ok, reading the link

http://www.npr.org/blogs/monkeysee/2010/02/the_doubleedged_sword_of_devot.html

you think all this has something to do with the internet?

let me establish my point, going back in history, by the time Friends were on, and Ross and Rachel broke up, there was no really internet comunities and so, right? you think it could've changed anything if fans all over the world were online discussing it? saying what and why they thought was wrong?

What if we could have said anything when Dark Angel was cancelled?
or decided they didn't wanted to Watch Byffy because she was dating Spike??

remember like a year or so ago, some people started a boycot in SouthAmerica because WB channel was delaying SPN's new season to favour -think was- The Mentalist, the fans down there scared the whole network and had SPN with only like a month delay, if there were no Internet they would have to sit tight and wait, since no internet means no chance to see epis online either.

So now, do we really feel like we deserve to have our way on how things goes?
We've been giving an opinion on it for long long time, I'm always complaining about the writers, and others about the story or this or that actor, why do we feel we have that right? we haven't wrote it, we haven't filmed it, we're only people watching TV we should get quiet and enjoy that we still have a show to watch...

Are we now more influential in what networks or studios would do with the characters or storylines than ten years ago?

I don't know..
