szarabasjkaLeafmen were landing near the oak where she lived since she was just a sprout, little valley lilly Tara was holding the hem of her brand new leafmen uniform and smiling, it was the first time her friend Ronin was flying, with the leafmen uniform, on his red necked hummingbird.
she was standing in the same lotus plant The Queen will be in few hours,it was the time when summer solistice and full moon come together, once every 100 years the queen choses a heir on that night and every creature and every plant and creature was waiting for the happy ocation.
Tara closed his eyes and tried to control her racing heart, straightened her uniform and sighed while sheheld the stems of the leaves around her
A hand landed on the stem she had a hand on and a little laugh called her atention, she knew the voice, every creature in Evergreens knew. "is that leafmen your pair?" asked the queen above tara's head and the chocolate eyes went huge, startled does not describe how she felt having the queen talking to her "I like the way he smiles... " and Tara blushed
"no, your highness... He's just a friend, we are frineds since we were young, when the wind carried us to the same oak by the pond" said bowing down "I like it too"
"he looks like a brave man" she said and when her eyes traveled once more to the landing birds grey eyes were on them for a second amazed and then bright with happiness. "every girl in Evergreens is waiting tonight, when I get to pick a successor... little lilly, are you waiting too?" and moved forward leaves and blossoms moving beneath her feet. nature growing and breathing her mere presence.
Tara looks at her, gracious and perfect, powerful and loving, red hair bright and fresh, minuscule droplets of dew gleaming in her dress like diamonds, everyone wished they could be her, be the life and hope of the woods and yet tara couldn't make herself lie.
Once she picks a blossom, once she fill her destiny, then she will have the chance of a life on her own, once her successor gets the hang of it, she'll be free to fill her part in life, aside of a life giver and reigning the forest she'll be able then to pick a path and be part of the circle of life.
But Tara wants more "No, your Highness" The Queen smile widened seeing the small woden sword on her hand
"I see, you want to be a leafmen? like him?" Tara blushed "is a great choice, and I'm sure you'll be great at it." and she moved back to the trees wherever she stepped branches and vines grew and leaves created a fresh shadows for her, from the dark she still could see the sparkle of her dress and the scent of honey suckle she left behind.
"Tara" is not something she had to think, she just reacts to Ronin's voice in one second she's turned around and is hugging her friend "did you see? I did it perfect!!" Ronin armor is shinny and perfect, and the bark pants make a raspy sound against hers.
"yeah you were amazing..." and hugging him once more while he smiled so brightly she felt like crying "I'm so proud of you" he smiled once more and cleared his throat hiding his emotions
"were you talking to the queen?" asked letting her go "why were she talking to you?"
Tara's face showed how much losing contact of Ronin hurt her "just what I wanted in life... " she bit her lip and looked into his face "and she said I'd be a great leafmen" ronin smile widened
"you're gonna be a leafmen, Tara" and holding her hand "that way you're gonna be with me all the time" The girl set her jaw and looked at him with a frown.
"and why is that important?"
Ronin looked flusterd for a split second before schooling his face serious again "because I don't want anything happening to you... I'll take care of you" and Tara still worrying her lips smiled the really? said only with her eyes.
A voice called all Leafmen and Ronin turned "hey, you'll do great,when they summon cadets I'll be cheering for you..." kissed Tara's cheek and left.

Whe the trials started Tara held the reins of her dark feathered hummingbird and sighed. withthe horn she started her trial. She was the best runnig and jumping, the best withthe sword and riding a bird.
But when the leafmen were doing lists Bob, Ronin's friend and superior let him know Tara didn't make it.
Ronin knew his friend would be heartbroken. "But Tara..."
"your little lilly?" he said "I'm sorry, sometimes is not about what you can do... one day when you're in charge.. you'll understand"
They were preparing the Queen's travel to the pond of blossoms to pick THE ONE, after that under the moonlight they'll announce the new leafment.
The travel to the pond went smoothly, The Queen walked among the precious flowers almost blooming, and stoped in front of a small one, pale and inadverted of its own greatness, hummingbirds floating over her, the shadow of a small one, almost black with tornoasole feathers passed over the bud, the queen looked up and she knew...
Queen Daisy took the blossom and moved to the lotus flower that will carry her on the parade back home. Everything looked fine.
Bob and Ronin were at the front checking for problems, coming back to the group Ronin saw Tara on her bird holding Bob's boy, Knob, both smiling and waiving, and his eyes couldn't be torn away from the precious lilly girl. That's why he never saw it coming, an arrow whistled next to him and Bob groaned and fell from his bird. Boggans attacked. someone screamed for them to deffend the queen, Ronin saw Tara flying towards the battle and joined her, at the end the Boggans didn't caused much damage, The Queen and the blossom were safe and he could go searching for his friend.
He found him on the forest floor, in middle of leaves and flower petals, a ladybug near his head, she saw him and shook her head no, Bob wasn't gonna make it.
"Hey Chief..." Ronin said smiling "you okay?" Bob was breathing shallowy and his chest was covered in black things, like worths
Bob smiled "almost done here.. ready to go home..." Ronin felt like crying when the fluttering of wings sounded behind him
Tara landed and Bob's boy called his dad running to him
Ronin moved now "you okay?" she whispered a yes while Ronin held her close thanking heavens for that and kissed her. Tara's world stopped there. "Sorry..." Ronin let her go and she saw Bob's body.
Tara gasped understanding what was about to happen "can he travel? the Queen could cure that..."
Ronin walked to his bird and avoiding her eyes "I hope so... take the kid..."
They were on the way, and by night fall they were in moonlight, They landed inside the truck, Knob calling for the Queen but her power is not useful anymore, the leafmen is diying. "I'm sorry" says teh Queen while tara tries to comfort the boy and Ronin moves to his friend once more
"PLease take care of Knob... take care of him... because he's stubborn and careless... pleas make him one of us..."
"many leafs one tree... I promise" he said and his friend sighed
"tell your little lilly... tell her... tell her she can be a leafmen if she wants... but tell her how you feel..."
Ronin sighed "I can't..."
Bob smiled "you can if you want, you better... see this, life is short you have to make every day count..."and fell lifeless.
The full moon appeared on the sky and the blossom was set on it, it opened and white light filled he hall and new life were invested on the magic blossom. Ronin held tara's hand
"I want you to know something... I... " a fine light ray traveled from the blossom to the Queen and to Tara.
The Queen smiled "well... i fthat's what it has to be..." she said and Tara's body rose from the floor filled and surrounded by light.
She was the Queen...
Days passed and Ronin understood he lost his chance, loosing his friend gave him a new mission, he did his best for Knob, he did his best for the leafmen.
"There you are..." Tara found him taking care of both birds his and hers
Ronin fell on one knee "Your Highness" he saluted and got up
"you wanted to tell me something..."
"nothing I can say to the Queen, your highness"
"Ronin... you're my friend..."
"will I be your friend in 100 years? when you give up your crown?"
Tara smield "Yes, you will be"
"Then I must keep that thing to say until then..." Tara moved close and looking straight to his eyes,
"really?" he smiled
"Yes, your Highness"
But then when the time was about to come... you must see what happened
